The Desimone Levee on the Green River failed and is under repair. The hospital is above the flood zone and currently in no danger of flooding. We evacuated our Time Square and Kent Station Clinics and our Lind Avenue locations. Several locations are experiencing staffing issues due to severe traffic impacts. Impacted patients are being contacted to reschedule appointments. Please be safe, do not drive or walk through standing water, and call 9-1-1 if you need emergency evacuation assistance.

Renton, WA (January 18, 2023) -- Valley Medical Center Trauma Program Manager Katherine Bendickson is working to make every school in Renton safer for our students.
Katherine was approved for a grant from Central Region EMS & Trauma Care Council (CREMS) in September, and has been providing free “Stop the Bleed” training and kits to all 25 schools in the Renton School District.
According to the Stop the Bleed program, the number one cause of preventable death after an injury is bleeding. The program was started by a trauma surgeon after the Sandy Hook school shooting in 2012.
Katherine’s Stop the Bleed training teaches different strategies to stop hemorrhaging. She then guides school staff through interactive practice. Katherine has already trained the Renton School District’s nurses, transportation department, and administration, and is making stops at every school in the district to offer Stop the Bleed training to staff. Through the CREMS grant, each school will also receive a free Stop the Bleed kit.
You are invited to join us at one of Katherine’s upcoming trainings and interview her about the importance of this work:
