A Community Open House for Valley’s Future Cancer Center and A Big Announcement

Renton, WA (May 25, 2023) -- With the end of the public health emergency for COVID-19, Valley Medical Center is ready to look to the future and how we can most impact and improve the health of our community. Plans are underway to build out our comprehensive, state-of-the-art Cancer Center to better serve the 600,000 people who make up our public hospital district in South King County. We need help from the community to make it happen, and we are thrilled to share that some of that help is already rolling in.

We invite you to join us on Thursday, June 1, for our Community Open House, sharing the plans we have to improve cancer care in our community with Phase 1 of our Cancer Center. During the event, you can tour the planned space, learn how the new facility will progress cancer care within this part of the region, and learn more about the funds we are asking from the community to make the Cancer Center a reality. You are welcome to come by any time between noon and 8 PM. At 6 PM, we will have a special check presentation from Valley Girls & Guys, with our first major gift toward this campaign.

We recently completed our comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment, which found that cancer continues to be the leading cause of death in our hospital district. We are seeing an increased need for comprehensive cancer services, as many delayed treatments and screenings during the pandemic. Many can’t afford to travel to Seattle for treatment, and even those who can are better served when they can get treatment closer to home.
