Dr. Zhai strives to provide quality, comprehensive and compassionate primary care to her patients. She enjoys the fields of primary and preventive care the most in her field of practice. Her professional affiliations include being a member of American College of Physicians, American Board of Internal Medicine and Washington Association of School Administrators. She also works as a hospital inpatient case management teacher.
“My philosophy of care is to always encounter my patient as their listener, assistant, guide and consultant to their health concerns and questions. I am always on standby when they need me, either in my clinic or in the hospital. My goal is to establish and maintain a good rapport with my patient and for them to view me as their teammate.”
Dr. Zhai received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Rush University Nursing College in Chicago, Illinois. She then went on to medical school at Shanghai Medical University in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. Dr. Zhai did her surgical residency from Ren-Ji Hospital, which is rated one of Shanghai’s top medical universities. Dr. Zhai then went on to complete the Medical/Pediatrics combined residency program at Michigan State University. She is bilingual, speaking both English and Mandarin.
In her spare time, Dr. Zhai enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters as well as exploring the area’s sights. She also enjoys cooking and traveling.
