Derek Wood, MD enjoys caring for adult patients with all forms of neurologic disease and strives to build collaborative relationships with patients and their families. He has a special interest in treating neuromuscular disorders such as peripheral neuropathy, myasthenia gravis, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), and muscle disorders as well as performing EMGs to help diagnose neuromuscular conditions.
Dr. Wood is originally from Michigan and has a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from University of Michigan. He obtained his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and graduated at the top of his class. He completed his residency training in neurology and a fellowship in neuromuscular medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN before coming to Valley Medical Center. Dr. Wood is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
While away from the clinic, Dr. Wood enjoys exploring new restaurants, hiking and mountain biking, and spending time with his fiancée and their dog.
