Marcus G. Tan, MD is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon specializing in reconstructive surgery and the precise removal of skin cancers, including basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas, and melanomas. With expertise in managing complex cases, he achieves exceptional cure rates while preserving healthy tissue, particularly in cosmetically sensitive areas. He combines surgical excellence with a compassionate, evidence-based approach, partnering with patients to deliver optimal outcomes in an outpatient setting under local anesthesia.
Dr. Tan received his medical education at the University of Toronto, where he also majored in Biochemistry and Economics. Following his Dermatology residency at the University of Ottawa, where he remains on faculty, he completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is currently Board certified in Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery (MDS). His research contributions include over 40 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in dermatology and dermatologic surgery.
Outside of work, Dr. Tan enjoys exploring hiking trails and the vibrant food scene with his wife Alexandra and their goldendoodle, Ollie. Dr. Tan looks forward to caring for his patients at Valley Medical Center.
