Dr. Garima Thakkar is a board-certified general surgeon and fellowship-trained colorectal surgeon dedicated to delivering advanced, patient-centered care for disorders of the colon, rectum, and anus. She specializes in minimally invasive and robotic colorectal surgery, utilizing advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques to optimize recovery, minimize postoperative pain, and improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Thakkar completed her medical degree and general surgery residency at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, where she developed a strong foundation in complex surgical care. She subsequently pursued advanced fellowship training in colorectal surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center, receiving comprehensive training in the management of complex colorectal disease and multidisciplinary surgical care.

Her clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), colorectal cancer, and pelvic floor disorders. She is particularly committed to multidisciplinary approaches that integrate surgical innovation, evidence-based care, and individualized treatment planning to improve quality of life and long-term outcomes for patients with complex colorectal conditions.

Dr. Thakkar is passionate about combining technical excellence with compassionate care, ensuring patients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout every stage of treatment. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
