Ryan D. Salinas, MD, is a neurosurgeon who provides surgical treatment for diseases of the brain and spine through both minimally invasive and conventional approaches. His goal is to provide patient centered care through carefully listening to patient concerns, thoroughly explaining patient-specific treatment options, and employing shared decision making when forming a treatment plan. He also strives to remain current with and contribute to advances in the field so as to offer the latest, tailored treatment options in order to maximize patient safety and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
After graduating from Yale University, Dr. Salinas received his medical degree from University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Salinas subsequently completed a seven-year residency in neurological surgery at University of Pennsylvania. During this time, he received additional fellowship experience in cranial oncology as a senior registrar at Wellington Regional Hospital in New Zealand. He has a particular interest in the surgical treatment of brain tumors with a research interest in fluorescent imaging and patient-specific tumor models. He has co-authored numerous research articles and book chapters in the medical and scientific literature including top level journals and textbooks such as Cell, Cell Stem Cell, and Abeloff’s Clinical Oncology. Outside of work, Dr. Salinas enjoys playing and watching sports of all kinds, cooking/experimenting in the kitchen and grill, and reading to his young daughter.
