Roya Sharifian, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician who strives to establish longitudinal relationships with patients by earning their trust through collaboration, listening to patients and their families, providing evidence-based care, and advocating for them in this complex medical system. Although she enjoys the variety of conditions managed in family medicine, she is particularly passionate about women’s health, reproductive health, chronic disease management and preventive healthcare. She also performs office procedures including skin biopsy, IUD, Nexplanon and joint injections.
Dr. Sharifian grew up in Aurora, Illinois but moved to Bellevue, Washington during middle school. Her interest in family medicine began as a child when she was given a lollipop after every visit. However her desire to pursue the medical field was solidified after she witnessed the consequences of a lack of access to healthcare in the setting of immense poverty while visiting family in China and realizing that communities at home also suffered from the same disparities. She graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in physiology and completed her medical degree at University of Washington. She completed her residency at Valley Family Medicine and has now stayed with Valley to continue working with patients in this area. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and cats, playing violin, baking, crocheting amigurumi, swimming and exploring all the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
