Alexey Shikuev, MD, is a neurologist with a special interest in caring for patients with headaches and facial pains. He takes his time to forge a partnership with them to find the approach that works the best. With many recent advancements and promising therapies he is excited to help his patients to deal with complexities of these often debilitating and underappreciated medical conditions. Dr. Shikuev performs onabotulinum toxin A injections (Botox) for chronic migraine, nerve blocks, and trigger point injections among other things.
Dr. Shikuev received his medical degree from St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University, Russia. He completed his first neurology residency at the same institution. He then came to the United States to pursue research in neuroscience at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He completed his second neurology residency at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, taking care of patients of various ethnic and social backgrounds in Brooklyn, NY. He gained an in-depth exposure to the latest advancements in the field of headache medicine and facial pain disorders during his fellowship training at Duke University School of Medicine. He is fluent in English and Russian languages. When away from his clinic, Dr. Shikuev enjoys exploring the landscapes of the Puget Sound, skiing, and hiking, as well as traveling the world.
