Rachel Epstein, ARNP, is a board-certified adult-gerontology nurse practitioner. She has developed a clinical interest in palliative care and is passionate about helping patients to process their grief, anxiety, and loss when confronted with serious illness. She is committed to providing compassionate care, as guided by her patients’ goals and wishes. She values a team-based approach, to help her patients live well throughout illness — both during curative treatments and follow-up, as well as at the end of life.
Rachel received her first bachelor’s degree in international political economy from Colorado College, and after completing a formative year with AmeriCorps she pivoted towards healthcare, ultimately receiving her MSN from Columbia University in New York. She worked for several years as an RN in a bustling trauma center Emergency Department before returning to her roots in Seattle. Prior to joining the Palliative Care team at Valley Medical Center, she practiced at Providence ElderPlace, a program that provides interdisciplinary and comprehensive medical care to older adults. She also has two years of ARNP experience in gastroenterology and hepatology, and has served as adjunct DNP faculty with Seattle Pacific University. She is currently furthering her education via a certificate in acupuncture with the accredited Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine Institute. Apart from her work, Rachel also enjoys growing flowers, baking, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
