Valley Cardiac Rehab Research Published in Peer-Reviewed Journal

We’re proud to share a meaningful accomplishment from Valley’s Cardiac Rehabilitation team: research from our program has been published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Cardiovascular Intervention.

The study, “Bio-Beats: A Novel Cardiac Rehabilitation Model With Integrated Resistance Training: A Retrospective Analysis of Program Outcomes,” evaluated outcomes from Valley’s 12-week cardiac rehabilitation program. Among the 252 patients included in the analysis, patients demonstrated a 35.5% improvement in maximal aerobic endurance and a 12.2% improvement in hand-grip strength over 90 days.

The publication highlights the innovative, data-driven approach used by our Cardiac Rehabilitation team, including individualized exercise prescriptions, resistance training, real-time heart-rate feedback and patient education. The program serves patients recovering from heart attack, heart failure, bypass surgery, angioplasty, stent placement, valve replacement and other qualifying cardiac conditions.

This is especially noteworthy for a community-based clinical program. The work demonstrates how the care delivered at Valley is contributing to the broader evidence base for cardiac rehabilitation—and gives our clinicians another reason to feel proud of the outcomes our teams and patients are achieving.

The program was also recognized as a best practice during Valley’s most recent Joint Commission survey earlier this year.

Referring a patient to Cardiac Rehab
Patients can be referred by a physician. After the referral is reviewed and insurance coverage is determined, the Cardiac Rehab team contacts the patient to schedule an orientation. The program is located at the Medical Arts Center, 4033 Talbot Rd. S., Suite 320, in Renton, and offers sessions Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
