Three New Surgical Robots Coming This Summer: Valley Expands Robotic Surgery Program

Valley is taking another major step forward in robotic surgery.

Beginning this summer, all three of Valley's robotic operating rooms will be upgraded to the latest da Vinci 5 (DV5) surgical platform, alongside the addition of a third robotic system. Once complete in August, Valley will increase robotic surgery capacity by 50%, allowing more patients to benefit from minimally invasive surgical care close to home.

The transition is happening in phases throughout July and early August as our Perioperative Services team, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff complete hands-on training before each new robot enters service. The upgrades bring enhanced 3D visualization, greater computing power, improved ergonomics, advanced analytics, and future AI-enabled capabilities designed to support surgical precision and patient safety.

Valley's robotic surgery program has earned national recognition as a Center of Excellence from the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), reflecting our commitment to exceptional patient care, quality outcomes, and ongoing innovation. Valley First in the Pacific Northwest to Offer New Endoscopic Ultrasound Technology

Valley Medical Center is proud to be the first hospital in the Pacific Northwest to offer the newest Olympus endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) technology, giving patients access to one of the most advanced tools available for diagnosing diseases of the digestive system. Since the program launched in early June, Valley physicians have already performed 12 procedures using the new technology.

Endoscopic ultrasound combines endoscopy with high-resolution ultrasound, allowing physicians to see beyond the lining of the digestive tract and examine nearby organs—including the pancreas, liver, gallbladder and bile ducts—with remarkable precision. The technology helps diagnose and stage cancers and other gastrointestinal conditions, evaluate abnormal findings seen on CT scans or prior endoscopies, and, in many cases, obtain tissue samples through a minimally invasive procedure that may help patients avoid exploratory surgery.
