On April 22 we had a pipe elbow failure in our Emergency Department (ED) causing a significant water leak. Crews are working hard to repair damage as quickly as possible. Our ED is open, but several rooms are currently offline, which can increase wait times. Apologies for any inconvenience you may experience.

Congratulations to Valley’s Stroke Program for a Successful Joint Commission Survey!

Congratulations and thank you to all of the teams who work with Valley's Stroke Program, which had a successful Joint Commission recertification DSC survey on April 23 and 24. Even in the aftermath of a major flood in the South Tower, this group worked together to showcase our high reliability and strong adherence to best practices, leaving our surveyor with very complimentary things to say.

During the closing conference, the surveyor said, "I always love it when I go to a facility and I walk away with best practices that I can share all over the nation."

Some of the executive highlights called out during the survey include:

  • Culture of Excellence: Team-based, diverse, and highly individualized care; 6S recognized as a model neuro unit
  • Top-Tier Clinical Performance: DTN < 30 min; symptomatic hemorrhage 1.1%; strong BP management
  • Sustained National Recognition: 13 years AHA/ASA GWTG Gold Plus / Honor Roll Elite Plus
  • Engaged Leadership: Visible, accountable, and supportive of program growth
  • Best-in-Class Infrastructure: Unique 4-meeting structure (Stroke, ED Stroke, Stroke Radiology/NIR, and Neuro M&M) driving continuous improvement
  • Program Growth: SCRNs ↑ 175% (4→11)

There were only three findings during the survey, and mitigation plans are already underway for each item.
