On April 22 we had a pipe elbow failure in our Emergency Department (ED) causing a significant water leak. Crews are assessing the impact and we are in the process of water abatement. On August 4, the Board of Commissioners of Public Hospital District #1 of King County, dba Valley Medical Center unanimously approved a November 2025 levy lift ballot measure to address ongoing financial challenges and help stabilize local healthcare services.
If approved, Hospital Prop 1 would provide additional operating and capital funds for hospital and healthcare services. It authorizes a maximum regular property levy rate for collection in 2026 of $.75 per $1,000 of assessed value. This is a $.46 increase per $1,000 above the current amount. Valley Medical Center has not asked voters for a levy lift in 20 years.
