New Patient Education Tool Coming Soon - Go-Live TBA

6/10/2025

Overview

Update: The original go-live date for this project has been postponed. Please check back here for updates soon.

Valley will be transitioning to UpToDate from Krames/Staywell for patient education.

What will happen?

Krames patient education in Epic and the Symptom Checker will no longer be available.

Which services are impacted?

Clinicians in outpatient clinics and hospital patient care services will be able to assign patient education in Epic for patients to view on:

  • After Visit Summaries (AVS)
  • MyChart
  • MyChart Bedside

UpToDate’s integration with Epic and MyChart will give patients and caregivers similar access to patient education content.

Our public-facing StayWell health library and content on valleymed.org will be replaced with UpToDate content.

Will Providers be affected?

Yes. All Epic users who assign patient education content will be affected.

What should I do?

Take note of any customizations you have and document them if you’d like to possibly configure something similar once the transition is complete.

We are unsure of your ability to similarly customize your workspace within UpToDate, but you will lose access to Krames Staywell’s content and integration after June 30.

Be mindful of who you assign patient education content to leading up to June 24. We are unsure how long the Krames Staywell content may be available on the patient-facing side once our contract with them lapses, it is safest to presume it will not be available after that date and you may need to reassign them content from UpToDate after the transition.

What if I have Questions?

The project team is working on a TiP sheet, which shouold be available soon. Any specific questions should be sent to Carla_sellers@valleymed.org
