Urology Access Update

1/11/2024

Thank you for your patience while holding on sending referrals to the Urology Clinic for the past three months while the clinic had reduced medical staffing. The clinic is now able to take routine new patient referrals again, with the average wait time of two months for the first available appointment. Below is the list of conditions that the clinic is currently NOT accepting:

  • Recurrent UTIs
  • Groin/testicular pain
  • Vasectomy consults*
  • Flank pain without imaging results showing kidney stones (provider should obtain imaging to confirm stones present then send referral if necessary)
  • Hematuria- only accepting confirmed micro/gross hematuria

Here is the clinical pearls document that our urology physicians provided before, suggesting initial management steps for common urologic complaints. This is targeted to PCPs but may be helpful for others as well. Also, below are some links for alternate urology clinics if a patient desires to be seen sooner for routine referrals. But, if an urgent/STAT referral is needed, please call the clinic for a doc-to-doc consult.
*They will schedule VMC employees for vasectomy consults.
