Happy Pride Month, to all of our providers here at Valley!

Pride is a special time for the LGBTQ+ community, in which we get to celebrate and broadcast our identity, something that many of us kept hidden for large parts of our lives. Please, take a moment to celebrate and learn a bit more about the LGBTQ+ community - your patients will thank you!  Below are some great resources.

Connecting Your Patients with LGBTQ+ Community Resources
If you have ever had a patient seeking help for LGBTQ+ related needs, and you wanted a comprehensive list of resources available as caregiver, that list is now available: Resources for LGBTQI+ Populations in South King County! It includes:
--Social interaction (groups—including intersectional populations)
--Condition specific support (gender affirming care, mental health, substance use, aging)
--Support for families of LGBTQ community members
The list is available on SharePoint in the Clinic Network Resource Kit in Manager Resources and also in Epic in the Provider Learning Dashboard.

Free CME Courses
Fenway: As a participant in the Human Rights Campaign's annual Healthcare Equality Index, Valley Medical Center staff have access to over 50 different online, on-demand, CME-accredited LGBTQ training modules and courses. These range from an introduction to the LGBTQ community, to the specifics of gender affirming hormones, taking a sexual history or legal aspects affecting the transgender community. Completing trainings also help Valley maintain our top Leadership score on the HEI, as long as you are registered with Valley's facility code (15065).

For more general training on healthcare for the LGBTQ+ community, check out theCAL. These courses are available as introductions to the LGBTQ community or more advanced sessions on LGBTQ health and all share some unique patient perspectives.
