On April 22 we had a pipe elbow failure in our Emergency Department (ED) causing a significant water leak. Crews are assessing the impact and we are in the process of water abatement. Our ED is open, but several rooms are currently offline which could increase wait times. Some surgeries are also being rescheduled.

The Cures Act and Tips for Writing Open Notes

The Cures Act ushers in a new era of transparency by mandating the immediate release of certain clinical notes and all lab, pathology and imaging results to our patients via MyChart. Please see this update regarding the 21st Century Cures Act. This new federal rule mandates the immediate release of results and clinical notes to our patients starting next week. Increased healthcare transparency is associated with improved patient satisfaction and engagement.

Although there was a last-minute delay announced for the Cures Act, we are proceeding as previously planned. Most hospitals in the country are doing likewise. Please see the official TiP sheet for details (TiP) as well as the helpful tips below:
