On April 22 we had a pipe elbow failure in our Emergency Department (ED) causing a significant water leak. Crews are assessing the impact and we are in the process of water abatement. Our ED is open, but several rooms are currently offline which could increase wait times. Some surgeries are also being rescheduled.

7/22/2020
Author: Lauren Steele, Safety Program Manager
  • Manufactured CAPR shields have previously been re-used
  • Fabricated CAPR shields (rolled out in March due to low supply) have been single use only

Safety Precautions Going Forward

  • ALL CAPR SHIELDS ARE NOW SINGLE USE ONLY
  • DISPOSE AFTER EACH USE

REMINDERS: Always inspect your CAPR shield for quality and safety before each use. If you experience any issues with your CAPR shield, please file a safety event.
