Make the most of your time spent with patients through MyChart Bedside. A few words of encouragement and instruction from nursing staff is all it takes to get your patients looking at their care and treatment information in real time, right at their fingertips via MyChart Bedside on the iPad. Following its successful pilot at the Joint & Spine Center (7 South), My Chart Bedside officially launches on August 3, 2020 on 6 South and 2 West.

Saves You Time at the Bedside

  • An information portal at patients’ fingertips supports your bedside teaching
  • Gives patients access to current health data: vital signs, medications & dosage schedule, problem list, lab results, and more
  • Can decrease call lights for non-emergent needs
  • Patients can review assigned educational information, document their understanding of each topic or indicate their need for further reinforcement
  • Patients can better plan for a visitor knowing when they are scheduled for any tests

Potentially Increases Patient Engagement Post-Discharge

Use of MyChart Bedside in the hospital encourages patient engagement post-discharge and increases patient portal utilization of MyChart.

Opportunity to Improve the Patient Experience

Internet access and the vast array of apps for entertainment on the iPad in patients’ hands has the potential to improve the hospital stay experience.

Comments from Patients During the Pilot

“I loved ‘Who’s Taking Care of Me’—so good to have caregiver names. The ‘Happening Soon’ section made me feel like I wouldn’t be overlooked (although that wasn’t a concern from staff, just an overall patient concern when in an unfamiliar environment and unnerving situation). I also liked the large variety of VERY useful apps. Great streaming for entertainment. Both media and games were good to help relax.”

“Nice to have something other than TV for entertainment.”

“Thank you for MyChart Bedside. It was a pleasant surprise.”
