How Valley is Ensuring the Safest Possible Environment During the COVID-19 Pandemic

5/1/2020
  1. All employees are screened daily for any respiratory illness symptoms and receive a temperature check. If employees have symptoms of a respiratory illness, they are required to stay home until they have recovered completely.
  2. We mask for you, you mask for us! Valley has a required continuous masking policy for all staff, patients and visitors at all of our hospital and clinic locations.
  3. Staff in all Valley facilities have adequate supplies of personal protective equipment to help protect them from exposure to the virus.
  4. All patients are screened at entry, undergo a temperature check and must be wearing their own mask or one we provide. Screening takes place at all VMC clinics, testing facilities, hospital and Emergency Department.
  5. No routine visiting is allowed until the threat of COVID-19 transmission has ended. Visitors are only allowed in limited circumstances, are screened thoroughly and must wear masks. Visitors with respiratory symptoms or fever are not allowed to enter.
  6. Waiting rooms are now set up for physical distancing, as well as maintaining patient flow. In many clinics, patients go directly to a treatment room. Patient care areas are cleaned between each patient, and public areas are cleaned throughout the day.
  7. In Valley’s Emergency Department, patients arriving with symptoms of COVID-19 are placed in separate areas to limit the risk of transmitting the virus to other patients.
  8. With hospitalized patients, those who test positive for COVID-19 are admitted to specified, separate units with trained teams of healthcare providers.
Valley will continue to update guidelines and procedures as new information becomes available from experts at University of Washington, State of Washington, and Centers for Disease Control. It is our high honor and distinct privilege to continue to serve our community and our patients, particularly in these most difficult times.

If you have general questions about the virus, please visit our Public Advisory webpage as we are updating information on a regular basis.
