What services does the Gynecologic Oncology Clinic provide?
VMC’s Gynecologic Oncology Clinic provides the full spectrum of care for patient with a gynecologic malignancy at any stage of diagnosis, treatment, or survivorship. We also provide care for patients with preinvasive disease or suspicion of malignancy. Our care centers around a multidisciplinary approach. As gynecologic oncologists, we manage chemotherapy for most of our patients and coordinate with medical oncology and radiation oncology as needed. Clinical trials are available through VMC or coordinated with University of Washington.
We also offer many in office procedures to obtain diagnosis and follow-up with existing patients including: endometrial biopsy, evaluation and treatment of dysplasia (colposcopy, LEEP), and IUD placement for management of endometrial pathology.
The most up-to-date surgical technology is employed by our providers including minimally-invasive surgery (traditional laparoscopy as well as robotic-assisted surgery). Examples of other technology includes sentinel lymphatic mapping and fertility preservation when appropriate.

What are the referral considerations for gynecologic oncology consultations or treatments?
Our goal is to be able to see patients the same week that the referral is placed, pending insurance authorization. With three providers available, our clinic is usually staffed five days/week. Many office procedures can be performed the same day as the initial consultation. Surgery, when indicated, is usually performed within two to three weeks, if not sooner. We are also available to see inpatient and ED consultations when urgent input is needed.
