What services does the Diabetes, Thyroid and Endocrinology (DTE) Clinic provide?
VMC’s DTE Clinic provides a full spectrum of treatment and management of diabetes and thyroid disorders, other endocrine-related disorders including adrenal, pituitary, metabolic bone disease, lipid disorders, cancers of endocrine glands, and over or under production of hormones.
Which conditions are treated?
- Diabetes mellitus: Type 1 and type 2 diabetes management, advanced techniques in diabetes treatment including continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pump, and diabetic education
- Thyroid disorders: Diagnosis and treatment of hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer
- Calcium disorder and metabolic bone disease: Diagnosis and treatment of hypocalcemia and hypercalcemia, vitamin D disorders, hypo- and hyper-parathyroidism, osteoporosis
- Adrenal and pituitary disorders: Evaluation and treatment of various adrenal and pituitary disorders: incidentaloma, diagnosis and treatment of hypo and hyper-hormone levels related to the endocrine tumors
- Other endocrine disorders: Cholesterol and lipid disorders, gonadal axis disorder, pharmacological obesity management

What are the referral considerations for endocrine consultations or treatments?
New patients for routine care are typically scheduled within a month of referral. Urgent consults will be scheduled as soon as possible, depending on clinicians’ review.
