RENTON, WA - Valley Medical Center (VMC) received the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce “Diamond Award” at a special reception earlier this month. The award recognizes VMC in the business category for “exemplifying service and community pride that makes Newcastle a great place to call home and do business,” said Diamond Award emcee Karin Blakley. Specifically, VMC was recognized for stepping up during tough economic times to be the main sponsor of Newcastle Days, and for volunteer and resource contributions to the community of Newcastle.
“We have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Newcastle community since we opened our primary care clinic in 2006,” said Paul Larson, Senior Vice President, Valley Medical Center Clinic Network. “Receiving a Diamond Award from the Chamber is a wonderful recognition, and we look forward to many more years of being an active member of this dynamic community.”
The Diamond Awards is the Newcastle Chamber’s annual Signature Event created as a way of saying “thank you” to a select few that make Newcastle the great place that it is. The chamber collects nominations from the public for the Youth, Education, Business, and Community Service categories—additionally there is a “Mayor’s Choice” category.
Approximately 75 people turned out for the eighth annual event at The Golf Club at Newcastle on November 10, 2011. The chamber collects nominations from the public for the awards each fall.
