RENTON, WA - Valley Medical Center (VMC) is proud to announce that 42 VMC-associated physicians representing 26 specialties have been named to annual 'Top Doc' issues for 2011. Each summer, using their own unique methodologies, Washington Magazine, Seattle magazine and Seattle Met magazine announce their picks for the best physicians in the region. The lists are valuable resources for consumers seeking medical professionals and help to narrow down the field or provide a starting point for their search.
Nearly 1,000 medical professionals representing 55 specialties were named in Washington Magazine’s third 'Best Doctors' list released in June 2011. Their list was excerpted from a national survey by 'Best Doctors,' a Boston-based company founded by two Harvard University Medical School physicians. Only physicians identified by their peers in previous years as “best doctors” receive the 'Best Doctors in America' survey. 19 VMC physicians representing 14 specialties were named 'Best Doctors' for 2011. See the summer issue of Washington Magazine for the full list and details on the selection methods.
Seattle magazine used healthcare research and information company Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. to compile its 11th annual 'Top Docs' list, released in July 2011. Castle Connolly asked physicians in the greater Puget Sound area to nominate providers they would seek out or recommend to loved ones and this year received more than 6,500 nominations for the best physicians in 65 specialties, from pediatrics to cancer care and beyond. The doctors on the 2011 list were selected by their peers as the very best in their fields. 10 VMC physicians representing 8 specialties were named 'Top Docs' for 2011. See the July issue of Seattle magazine for the full list and details on the selection methods.
With the assistance of Seattle-based research company, Avvo, Seattle Met conducted its comprehensive, 4th annual 'Top Doctors' survey of Puget Sound healthcare providers across dozens of specialties to rank the highest-rated doctors based on peer endorsements, experience, awards and several other criteria, using a 10-point scale. Out of nearly 4,000 doctors, the 2011 list includes 612 practitioners in 66 specialties from King, Kitsap, Snohomish and parts of Pierce County. Doctors named to the Seattle Met list represent the top 5 percent of practitioners in their fields as of May 24, 2011. 19 VMC physicians representing 9 specialties were named 'Top Doctors' for 2011 – 13 physicians received perfect 10-point ratings. See the August issue of Seattle Met for the full list and details on the selection methods.
“We could not be more proud of the VMC physicians named to these lists and applaud them for their dedication to excellence and commitment to the health of their patients,” said Rich Roodman, Valley Medical Center CEO. “It takes more than just practicing good medicine to be named to these lists. These are the best of the best – physicians who have gained the respect of their peers and patients alike, and they are emblematic of VMC’s philosophy of care.”
