Deja Vu!

Valley Medical Center Selected (Again) as a “Best Place to Work in Healthcare” in the U.S.

RENTON, WA - Valley Medical Center (VMC) is once again a “Best Place to Work in Healthcare,” and the only Medical Center selected from Washington State, as awarded by Modern Healthcare magazine on September 3, 2010. This marks the third consecutive year that VMC has been named to the publication’s prestigious list of best places to work in the nation.

VMC submitted a comprehensive company profile made up of 83 questions that summarized the public hospital district’s sick leave, vacation and holiday accruals, as well as describing its (remarkable) medical and dental benefits, tuition reimbursement, communication strategies and employee recognition and events program.

Subsequently Modern Healthcare randomly selected VMC employees to send confidential 72-question email surveys. Eight topics were rated on a five-point scale from “Disagree Strongly” to “Agree Strongly.” Topics included Leadership & Planning; Corporate Culture & Communications; Your Role at the Organization; Your Work Environment; Your Relationship with your Immediate Supervisor; Training & Development; Pay & Benefits; and Miscellaneous Policies & Benefits. A minimum 40 percent response rate was required to be considered for the list.

“We feel so gratified that our efforts towards making Valley a great place to work are successful!” said Rich Roodman, Valley Medical Center CEO. “Each and every time we receive a ‘Best Place to Work’ recognition it is heartwarming and renews our commitment to our remarkable staff and clinicians. Without a team effort, we could not reach this level of achievement.”

Specific rankings of the “Best Places to Work in Healthcare” will be announced at a gala awards ceremony on October 18 in Dallas.
