Valley Medical Center: A Bona Fide 10

Valley Medical Center Ranked a Top Ten “Best Place to Work in Healthcare”

RENTON, WA - Valley Medical Center (VMC) today announced it has been named a “Best Place to Work in Healthcare,” by Modern Healthcare magazine. This marks the second consecutive year that VMC has been named to this prestigious list.

Out of more than 300 participating healthcare companies from across the U.S., VMC was ranked number 10. The specific ranking, from 1 to 100, was released in a special supplement that recognizes the top places to work by industry segment (provider, payer, vendor) and by number of employees.

“This type of recognition is outstanding,” said Rich Roodman, CEO. “We’ve clearly earned distinction for nearly a decade as a best place to work in Washington State by the former Washington CEO magazine and more recently by Seattle Business. Now our industry’s premier journal places us at number 10 in the nation!”

The program collected information from both the employer and employees and was open to all companies with at least 25 employees. Employers completed a survey detailing company policies, practices, benefits and demographics. Employees were asked an in-depth set of questions that resulted in an analysis in eight core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall satisfaction.

“On behalf of the Washington State Hospital Association (WSHA) I'd like to congratulate Valley Medical Center for its top 10 ranking by Modern Healthcare,” said Leo Greenawalt, President and CEO, WSHA. “We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Valley and know that they truly care about their employees and strive to create a fulfilling work environment; it’s quite an honor for them to receive this distinction.”

Valley Medical Center’s community-owned hospital and network of specialty and neighborhood clinics employs over 2,500 people at the main hospital campus and in clinics located in neighborhoods around the district including Newcastle, Renton, Kent, and Covington.
